Morocco and Tunisia will both make long-awaited returns to the World Cup finals this summer after sealing qualification on Saturday.

A 2-0 win against Ivory Coast saw Morocco ease through, ending a 20 year wait to compete at the World Cup again.

Heading into the qualifying campaign, Ivory Coast would have been favourites to top the group but came undone when they had to win. Only needing a draw on Saturday to qualify, Morocco left nothing to chance.

Nabil Dirar of Fenerbahce scored the opener in the 25th minute, leaving Ivory Coast with a mountain to climb. Just five minutes later the lead was doubled, with Medhi Benatia scoring just his second goal for his country on his 43rd appearance.

A dominant performance was rightly rewarded with qualification.

Meanwhile in Tunisia, a 0-0 draw was enough to see the hosts through to their first World Cup since 2006.

Hosting Libya, Tunisia only needed to draw to see off DR Congo and top their group. Two late DR Congo goals against Guinea were enough to win but not enough to topple Tunisia and win the group.

Nigeria, Egypt, and Senegal had already won their qualifying groups.

Now we know all five of the African teams who will be present at next summer’s tournament.
