According to reports this afternoon, AC Milan are readying a bid for Santiago Gimenez, despite losing potential January sales.

In recent years, Milan have been an opportunist club. Often things have operated with a model of sell-to-buy and it seemed this was going to continue into the January mercato. However, this is not the case it seems, with links to Gimenez growing.

Reports have suggested that a move would have to be funded by outgoings, but this may not be the case as the Rossoneri are preparing to make a bid.

Matteo Moretto reports that the club will make a ‘first official offer’ to Feyenoord today for the Mexican striker, and the Dutch club are not closed off to a mid-season sale. However, the figures must be right, as expected.

An ‘irrenounceable’ offer will have to be made to the club, with current plans being to keep the striker until June ‘at least’ however, if an acceptable offer arrives, then it will be considered and potentially expected.

The report states that the Diavolo are prepared to offer the 23-year-old striker a deal until 2027 with the option of an extra year, but discussions about a contract are still ongoing, so it could still change before the deal is wrapped up.
