Morecambe FC's crisis continues with the club insisting a pre-season friendly on Saturday will go ahead despite a reported player strike.

The Shrimps are set to take on AFC Fylde on Saturday, a fixture that was in doubt with unpaid players apparently refusing to play until the ownership situation is cleared up.

Morecambe posted on the club's social media that the game at Fylde will happen in an announcement that Sky Sports journalist Sanny Rudravajhala said was not told to the players first.

The team has been training despite threats not to play and it remains to be seen whether Saturday's game will go ahead.

The announcement comes on the day (July 22nd) that Morecambe were set to play Barrow AFC, a behind-closed-doors game that ultimately was called off.
