Morecambe have wasted no time under their new ownership, naming Ashvir Singh Johal as their first-team boss.

The announcement comes just two days after the Shrimps were officially taken over by the Panjab Warriors group, bringing an end to a lengthy two-year sale saga.

One of the new owners’ first moves was to part company with Derek Adams, and within hours Johal was confirmed as his replacement.

At just 30 years old, Johal becomes the youngest manager across the top five divisions of English football. He’s previously had coaching spells with Notts County, Leicester City, Wigan Athletic and Italian side Como.

His first test will come this Saturday when Morecambe take on Altrincham - their opening competitive fixture since dropping out of League Two back in May.
