Lazio’s trip to Florence not only saw them suffer a controversial defeat, but the team has potentially lost the services of Boulaye Dia to injury.
The Senegalese versatile striker has now established himself as a regular starter in Marco Baroni’s 4-2-3-1 system, playing right behind the centre-forward. After finding the back of the net on his first two starts for the club against Milan and Hellas Verona, the 27-year-old was given the nod once more against Fiorentina on Sunday.
But according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Dia suffered a problem in the ankle in the first half but had to grit his teeth until the 68th minute when he made way for Pedro.
The player will soon undergo the necessary medical tests to reveal the extent of the injury. During his post-match press conference, Baroni confirmed the former Salternatina man sustained a slight sprain.
Dia immediately had a slight sprain to his ankle but he still gave it his all. At half-time, I noticed he was struggling a bit so I preferred to bring in Pedro who is an important asset for us.
Lazio will be crossing their fingers, as Dia’s absence would leave them with a depleted attacking department, especially with Taty Castellanos also out with a muscular problem. The Biancocelesti will be hoping to have the Argentine at their disposal in the coming days.
