Milan striker Alvaro Morata has spoken out about the importance of mental health in football. ‘When you have depression or panic attacks, you have a person inside you that you must battle day and night.’

The centre-forward has gone through some difficult times recently, including the separation from wife Alice Campello following his transfer to Milan.

He was also in the Spain squad that won the EURO 2024 tournament, but decided to use his interview with COPE to speak out about the hidden side of not just sport, but everyone’s life.

“When you are going through really difficult moments, like depression or panic attacks, it doesn’t matter what you do for a living or what situation your life is in, you have a person inside you that you must battle every day and night.”

The full interview will be released on Thursday.
