AC Milan and Alvaro Morata parted ways in January, despite the Spaniard only arriving six months prior. It is a deal which was questioned from start to finish, certainly.
There has been a lot said about Morata’s time at Milan, and there could be more said in the future with his deal only a loan agreement, rather than the permanent option like the Rossoneri had probably hoped for.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard’s wages are no longer on the book, and this allowed a greater level of manoeuvrability in the mercato, which came in handy on a busy deadline day.
The striker’s presence will not be felt due to the arrival of Santiago Gimenez, who was initially linked at the same time as Morata – though the club opted to go in a different direction.
Speaking for the first time since the move today, the striker admitted that the deal took a lot to complete, and his words have been relayed by Footboom.
“I am truly excited. It took a lot of effort to bring me here. For the first time, the club came to Milan to meet with me, and I want to sincerely thank President Abdülkadir Bey and Giorgio Gardi for making this happen. It was a complicated operation, but it has become a reality.
“I take pride in being here: Galatasaray is probably the only reason I decided to come to Turkey. I can’t wait to wear this jersey and bring moments of joy to the fans. I am here to give my all.
“I can’t wait to step on the pitch and contribute to the success of the team.”
