  • Ipswich Town are on the verge of a historic return to the Premier League after a 22-year absence, sitting at the top of the Championship table.
  • The East Anglian derby against Norwich City is crucial for both clubs this Saturday, with Ipswich battling for promotion and Norwich fighting to stay in the play-off spots.
  • Injuries may force changes to Ipswich's lineup, with Kieffer Moore likely out, providing an opportunity for Ali Al-Hamadi to make his first Championship start.

Ipswich Town prepare for a monumental clash in the Championship against fierce rivals Norwich City.

The Tractor Boys have enjoyed a fantastic campaign so far, and are now positioned at the top of the Championship table with just six games to play. Leeds United sit just one point behind, while Leicester City find themselves two points behind with a game in hand. The competition is extremely tough, but Kieran McKenna's men will almost be able to taste promotion.

If Ipswich do finish inside those top two places in the Championship, they will make a dramatic return to the Premier League after a 22-year absence and will complete back-to-back promotions from League One. It will be a fantastic achievement for everyone involved, but they must be at the top of their game going into the final six matches.

One club who would love nothing more than to spoil the Tractor Boys' success is their fierce rivals Norwich. The two sides meet this Saturday, with kick-off at 12:30pm, and it is simply a must-win game for both clubs. While Ipswich battle for the automatic promotion places, Norwich find themselves fighting to remain inside the play-off places.

The East Anglian derby is a huge occasion whenever the two clubs meet, but even more importance is placed on the fixture this time around. Today, Football League World predicts Ipswich's starting eleven for Saturday's crucial battle.

They will almost certainly line up in McKenna's favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.

GK: Vaclav Hladky

The Czech stopper has been Ipswich's number one all season, and has played a huge part in their success so far.

Vaclav Hladky has kept 13 clean sheets in the Championship alone this campaign, including two in his last three games.

RB: Axel Tuanzebe

Despite his game time being quite limited in the first half of the season, Axel Tuanzebe has worked his way into McKenna's starting eleven in recent weeks at right-back and deserves to be involved in Saturday's trip to Carrow Road.

The 26-year-old has been a part of just one loss in his 11 league starts.

CB: Luke Woolfenden

25-year-old Luke Woolfenden has absolutely thrived in his first full Championship season, having made 36 starts and being a huge defensive asset in McKenna's side.

He will undoubtedly be one of the first names on the team sheet this Saturday as part of a familiar defensive pairing.

CB: Cameron Burgess

Alongside Luke Woolfenden will most likely be Australian defender, Cameron Burgess.

Despite spending a brief time away at the Asian Cup, Burgess has been heavily involved this season and has started the majority of Ipswich's league games. He grabbed his first goal of the season a couple of weeks ago, in a 6-0 thrashing over Sheffield Wednesday.

Leif Davis has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season, let alone in Ipswich's side.

His incredible 16 league assists has beaten the previous record of 14 in a single Championship campaign, which is a testament to his consistency. The left-back was included in this week's Championship team of the week for his goal and assist at home to Southampton, so he is more than deserving of a start at Carrow Road on Saturday.

DM: Massimo Luongo

Another consistent performer for the Tractor Boys this season has been former Australia international, Massimo Luongo.

The midfielder has made 32 league starts and has been a reliable option for McKenna in the middle of the park.

DM: Sam Morsy

The man with the captain's armband, Sam Morsy is surely destined to start Ipswich's vital East Anglian derby on Saturday.

Like Luongo, the 32-year-old has been consistent in the centre of midfield, having made 36 league starts. He also grabbed an assist in the victory over Southampton on Easter Monday.

With regular right-winger, Wes Burns on the sidelines through injury, Chelsea loanee, Omari Hutchinson could take his place on Saturday.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed his football this season, scoring eight goals and assisting five, and his versatility has been incredibly important.

AM: Conor Chaplin

13 goals and seven assists is all that needs to be said about the season Conor Chaplin is having.

The 27-year-old has been one of Ipswich's standout performers and will surely start behind the striker on Saturday.

LW: Nathan Broadhead

Nathan Broadhead has enjoyed a similarly impressive campaign in terms of attacking returns, having also scored 13 goals.

He has struggled somewhat with fitness at times, but when he starts, he is a constant threat to defenders across the division. Broadhead came off the bench and grabbed an assist on Monday, so is likely to return to the starting eleven.

ST: Ali Al-Hamadi

Unfortunately, Kieffer Moore suffered a back injury on Monday and could be sidelined through injury, which would be a massive blow for Ipswich. On Thursday (4th of April), McKenna stated in his press conference that "Kieffer Moore has had a 'pretty severe back spasm' - he hasn't played a part at all this week.

Not impossible for him to feature against Norwich, knowing him, but looking unlikely. Hoping it's not long-term and he should be back for the fixtures next week."

It looks as though Moore will not be out for long, but it is likely that Ali Al-Hamadi will step in for the Welshman on Saturday to make his first-ever Championship start. Al-Hamadi is certainly a strong replacement, having scored four goals as a substitute since signing in January.
