Monza vs Lazio: Recent History

March was a relatively strong month for Serie A debutants Monza, who picked up a win over Empoli and draws with Hellas Verona and Cremonese. Silvio Berlusconi’s club are safe from the drop to Serie B and seem ambitious as they look to break into the top half of the table.

Three points behind 9th place Fiorentina, Monza will be confident of their chances of climbing a few more spots up the table in their first ever topflight season.

Since the 2-0 loss to Atalanta in February, Lazio have looked hungry in the league, winning four of their last five league outings, including a tense Derby della Capitale against Roma. Now that the Europa Conference League is no longer a concern, Maurizio Sarri’s side can fully focus on the top four race.

Lazio currently sit second in the Serie A table with 52 points, five ahead of fifth place Roma. With 11 games left to play, the Roman outfit will be looking to maintain momentum as they fight for a Champions League finish.

Monza vs Lazio: Team News

Monza cannot count on Juventus loanee Nicolo Rovella, who is out with an ankle injury. Armando Izzo and Matteo Pessina are both unavailable through suspension.

Lazio have a fully fit squad heading into their first match after the international break, recovering talismanic striker Ciro Immobile. Adam Marusic cannot take part after being shown a red card following the final whistle of derby with Roma.

Expected Starting Lineups

Monza will have to tinker with their squad a little for the clash with Lazio, bringing in Jose Machin for the injured Rovella. No other major surprises are expected for the Biancorossi.

Sarri is not expected to take any risks with his Biancocelesti lineup, using regular features like Immobile, Mattia Zaccagni and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Monza (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Donati , Pablo Marí, Caldirola; Birindelli, Machin, Sensi, Carlos Augusto; Ciurria, Caprari; Petagna.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Casale, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Milinkovic, Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.
