Monza are keen on extending the loan of Inter academy product Lorenzo Pirola for next season, with the young defender having showed positive signs during his appearances with the Serie B club last season.

Italian news site FCInterNews report that Pirola would welcome an extended stay at the Brianza-based club, where he could continue to develop his talents.

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani is also pleased with the youngster’s development at the club, and is convinced that he will be a good addition to their squad going forward under new manager Giovanni Stroppa.

Inter want an obligation to buy to be inserted into the loan deal to clarify the player’s future, and this appears to be the main sticking point remaining with the potential deal.

Inter academy goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio also looks set to remain on loan at Monza, with an obligation to buy inserted in his contract in the event that Monza are promoted to Serie A next season.

Other Serie B clubs including Lecce and Parma are interested in Pirola, though it is understood that the player prefers staying at Monza.

Inter are also waiting for new manager Simone Inzaghi to assess the young center-back before making a decision, and waiting to see if interest from Serie A clubs Cagliari or Atalanta materializes.
