Montpellier HSC’s Téji Savanier (33) is attracting interest from Saudi Arabian sides, according to a report from L’Équipe.
It had been widely expected that Savanier would leave Montpellier this summer, one year before the expiration of his contract. The Frenchman was stripped of the captaincy last season in what was a campaign to forget for the club and the player.
MHSC will play in Ligue 2 last season, following their relegation, however, Savanier is not expecting to join them in making the drop to the second division. La Paillade are open to freeing Savanier from the final year of his contract, should a suitor come along.
L’Équipe understands that there is serious interest from the Middle East and, in particular, Saudi Arabia. Al-Kholood are one of several Gulf state sides to show an interest in the playmaker, with just one month remaining until the closure of the transfer window in France.
