According to L’Équipe, Montpellier HSC are set to imminently complete the signing of Genoa full-back Silvan Hefti (26).
Michel Der Zakarian sparked a revival when he rejoined Montpellier last season, however, he has not managed to carry that form into the current campaign. Circumstances have gone against him. The club are mired in an injury crisis that shows no sign of relenting, with key personnel absent in multiple areas of the pitch.
As a result, Les Héraults are looking to recruit this January, not only to fill in the holes but to strengthen the side and improve the club’s chances of staving off relegation to Ligue 2. One reinforcement now looks set to arrive at the Mosson. Hefti has been a peripheral figure at Serie A side Genoa this season, with the right-back featuring just eight times, and racking up just 290 minutes of football.
Hefti is now set to join Montpellier. Negotiations are at a very advanced stage, according to L’Équipe, and the deal could even be concluded later on Tuesday.
