Montpellier Hérault SC’s deadline-day acquisitions of Modibo Sagnan and Yann Karamoh will likely make their debut against Stade Rennais. Akor Adams drops to the bench for Karamoh while Sagnan comes in to replace Maxime Estève who left on loan to join Burnley.
Montpellier looked to strengthen this winter as they also brought in Silvan Hefti and Tanguy Coulibaly. All four of these players have been brought in with the expectation that they will make an immediate impact for La Paillade as Michel Der Zakarian attempts to steer the club further away from the drop.
The team currently sit in 12th position they are within reach of Olympique Lyonnais in the playoff relegation spot with only three points separating them. It’s not expected that the club will become a major part of the relegation race, but it is a risk that the club are not willing to take.
