Montpellier HSC’s left-back Nicolas Cozza is close to agreeing a move to Wolfsburg in the coming days, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Frenchman, who turned 24 at the weekend, has made 16 appearances for La Paillade this season, with two goals and one assist in Ligue 1.
But his future appears to be elsewhere. Swapping the French Riviera for Lower Saxony, he has reached an agreement with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. The Germans have sent an offer of around €700k to buy out the remainder of Cozza’s contract, which is due to end in summer 2023. The French club are asking for €1m for the versatile defender, but an agreement could come together in the coming days that see both parties satisfied.
This is not the only major sale that Montpellier are looking to complete in January: defender Mamadou Sakho and forward Wahbi Khazri are also thought to be for sale as disappointing returns this season have left them out of favour at the club.
