According to L’Équipe Montpellier, Augsburg, and Beşiktaş are currently looking to sign Metz defender Boubakar Kouyaté (25). Hérault-based Montpellier are reportedly closest to meeting the Ligue 2 side’s demands with an offer of €5.5m – yet the player would prefer a move away from France to one of the other two clubs.
Augsburg and Beşiktaş have also made offers for the player at around €4m, and whilst they are lower they could convince the player to join the club. Whilst Kouyaté wanted to move in the summer, a departure in January has been all but confirmed.
The central defender has made eleven appearances this season in Ligue 2, which follows 30 appearances in Ligue 1 last season as Metz were relegated to the second tier. The Malian (with 21 international appearances) played for Troyes before joining Metz in 2020 and has since made a total of 61 appearances, scoring two goals.
