AS Monaco have confirmed that Mohammed Salisu (24) has undergone pubalgia surgery, which according to L’Équipe, will rule the Ghanaian international out for several weeks.

Salisu joined Monaco from Southampton earlier in the summer, however, he didn’t arrive at peak fitness. He didn’t immediately integrate the first-team set-up, but he had been training with his new teammates in recent weeks, alluding to an imminent return. Adi Hütter even evoked the idea that the former Southampton centre-back would feature after the international break.

However, it has now been decided that Salisu will undergo surgery in order to resolve his pubalgia (groin) issue, which has hampered him since his arrival in the Principality. “Following persistent pain during the international break, Mohamed Salisu (pubalgia) will undergo a surgical intervention in the coming days,” read AS Monaco’s statement, which didn’t specify the duration of the Ghanaian international’s unavailability. However, L’Équipe have evoked an absence of several weeks. The €15m signing is yet to make his Monaco debut, and he will now have to wait a little longer before doing so.
