AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement has revealed that Ismail Jakobs (23) has been dropped for disciplinary reasons, and will therefore not be available for selection against FC Toulouse.

The Senegalese international’s season is over. Jakobs wasn’t present at Thursday morning’s training session at the club’s performance centre in La Turbie, and speaking ahead of the final match of the season, Clement revealed that the player has been sanctioned.

Jakobs was fined for something that will remain internal. It’s clear that it wasn’t good. He understood that. It’s done, but he won’t be part of the squad [against Toulouse],” said the Belgian coach, in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.

Jakobs wasn’t the only player absent from Thursday’s session. Gelson Martins and Jean Lucas also didn’t train with the squad but participated in individual sessions in the afternoon. Given their separation from the first-team training session, it is clear that the future of neither player lies at the Principality club.

Aleksandr Golovin was also absent having felt pain in his adductors after slipping during Wednesday’s training session. He is a doubt for the match against Toulouse. Monaco must better the result of either Lille OSC or Stade Rennais to secure any form of European football for next season.
