AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun (24) watched on from the stands as the Principality club beat Le Havre AC 3-1 on the opening day. He is, however, expected to return against Lille OSC this weekend.
Speaking at last week’s press conference, Adi Hütter revealed that the USMNT striker was suffering from a very minor calf injury. He added that the medical staff would assess whether it is worth taking the risk against Le Havre.
Ultimately, the club opted against taking that risk. There was little concern about the injury and Hütter has now confirmed that the former Arsenal forward could start against Lille. “Balogun can play; he is ready to be in the starting XI,” confirmed the Monaco manager in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Les Monégasques. Ansu Fati and Paul Pogba, both of whom are building their fitness, are the only two absentees.
