AS Monaco Brazilian left-back Caio Henrique (25) has said that he is open to the possibility of representing Spain at international level.

The former Atletico Madrid player has blossomed since arriving in the Principality. Since the beginning of last season, Henrique has been one of Monaco’s main source of creativity, and this season, only Neymar and Lionel Messi have more assists than the left-back.

Despite his form, he continues to be overlooked by the Brazilian national team. He is yet to be capped at international level, and is therefore not ruling out a switch of allegiances. “Wearing the [Brazil] jersey is in the corner of my mind. The World Cup is nearly here and I know that it will be difficult. I need to continue playing as I have been for AS Monaco in order to be ready if the opportunity arises,” he said.

He added, “There is also a possibility with Spain in the future.” Henrique has a Spanish passport, having spent the early part of his career in Madrid, and he is also a friend of Diego Costa, who also made a smiliar switch.
