Breel Embolo (28) played no part in AS Monaco’s opening day win over Le Havre AC on Saturday. Instead, and despite no injury, the Swiss international watched on from the stands at the Stade Louis II.
His omission from the matchday squad comes amid reported interest from AS Roma and AC Milan, as per L’Équipe. The forward’s deal at Monaco expires next summer and so the club are not opposed to his exit, even if the player is not being forced out.
Following his absence on Saturday, Monaco manager Adi Hütter gave an update on the player’s situation. “We will see what happens with Breel,” said Hütter in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “He is always behind the squad. He likes to be one of the leaders, but sometimes there are hard decisions to take, as a manager, too. But how he is managing it, I have to praise him, too,” he added.
