Denis Zakaria was suspended for last weekend’s 5-2 hammering of FC Metz, however, he is set to return as AS Monaco host Stade Rennais at the Stade Louis II on Sunday.

Zakaria’s return will have a liberating effect on Aleksandr Golovin, who will be pushed further forward against Rennes. With Eliesse Ben Seghir at full fitness and with Maghnes Akliouche and Takumi Minamino performing consistently and at a high level, there will be a lot of competition for the more advanced roles.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Adi Hutter, whose squad is slowly returning to full strength. Mohamed Camara has returned to the group and is in line for minutes, as is Breel Embolo, who was in the matchday squad for the first time this season against Metz after recovering from an ACL injury suffered at the start of August. It is likely that, after his brace against Metz last weekend, Folarin Balogun will be rewarded with a starting spot, in place of Wissam Ben Yedder.

Monaco likely lineup v Rennes

Radoslaw Majecki; Ismail Jakobs, Thilo Kehrer, Mohamed Salisu, Wilfried Singo; Youssouf Fofana, Denis Zakaria; Aleksandr Golovin, Maghnes Akliouche, Takumi Minamino; Folarin Balogun.
