According to Het Nieuwsblad, Cercle Brugge’s Jesper Daland has impressed parent club AS Monaco after spending a week training with the side. Both Phillipe Clement, formerly of Cercle’s city rivals Club Brugge, and sporting director Paul Mitchell were impressed with what they saw from the 22 year-old Norweigan.

Cercle signed Daland for around 1.2 million euros from Norwegian side Start. Since then, the young defender has impressed as he has quickly amassed 50 appearances for the side. He will not be making the move to the principality just yet, as he is expected to remain till the end of the season.

Monaco and Cercle have a strong relationship, sharing owners and often sharing players. This season, Cercle’s number one goalkeeper Thomas Didilon moved from Belgium to the principality, with Radoslaw Majecki being sent the other way to replace him. The likes of Jean Marcelin, Louis Torres and Lucas Lareda have all made the move on loan to Belgium from Monaco.
