Moises Caicedo won Chelsea’s Player of the Season award as well as the Players’ Player of the season award at a ceremony at Grosvenor House on Sunday night.
He spoke a little about his win in an quotes featured on the Chelsea official website.
“I’m so proud of myself. I thank God first and my family, this is for them too,” Caicedo said.
“My level is higher now [than last season], but I know that in the next few games and next season are going to be very good. I feel I’ve improved a lot. Last season, I learned a lot from it, and this season I prayed and told myself that this would be my season, because playing for Chelsea is a dream come true. I’m so happy to be here and win this.”
He gave some thanks to the fans who had voted for him too:
“The fans, I appreciate a lot. We play for them. They help us, support us, and push us when we need them. It’s why this award makes me so happy. Hearing the fans sing my name is a dream come true. It’s always special and pushes me more to do a better job.”

Caicedo has been the favourite among most fans for a while now – certainly since Cole Palmer’s form faded away in the spring, there’s been no competition for the Ecuadorian in terms of consistency all season long.
He admitted that he had expected the award “a little”, but also named the players he thought it migh have gone to:
“I maybe expected it a little, but as I watching the video [of who the players voted for], I thought first it was Marc Cucurella, then Enzo (Fernandez), and then Cole because they have all had good seasons. So I was very pleased when I heard my name,” the midfielder said.
Cucurella, Palmer and Enzo have certainly had some great stretches and some great games, but none has been as consistently good from August until now as Caicedo has, and he’s a worthy winner without doubt.
