Moises Caicedo is a “better player than Enzo Fernandez”

Craig Burley is known to be a bit of an attention seeker, especially when it comes to Chelsea, and he’s done his level best on ESPN this morning to generate some controversy.

Asked about Moises Caicedo and what level of player he thinks he is, Burley was immensely positive.

He said he is a “brilliant player” and pointed out that he’s played in an intense Brighton team which plays dangerous football and a high line, and Caicedo coped technically with all that without a problem.

“Brighton passed it out from the back as well as anybody… and he coped with that.”

There won’t be many disagreements with that. But his next statement was a little spicier:

“I personally think he’s a better player than Enzo Fernandez.”

Well, they’ve very different players for one thing, which is precisely why Chelsea want to pair the two of them together. There’s no doubt he defends better than Enzo, but the Argentine has exceptional passing skills which Caicedo doesn’t, as far as we’ve seen.

Instead of comparing them, we just want to see them in the same team paired together.
