Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has received praise from one of the best ever footballers to play the game this week.

The former Brighton man has really started to settle in now as a Chelsea player after a slow start to his career at Stamford Bridge.

It was always going to take him a little bit of time to settle into his new club with new team mates, under a new manager, and playing with different tactical instructions. After all, it’s easy to forget that he is still actually a very young player, despite the fact he’s been playing so well in the Premier League before joining Chelsea.

Of course, Chelsea paid a hefty fee to land the Ecuadorian international and not only does the pressure of playing for a big club like Chelsea take it’s toll, the large fee hovering over his head also takes it’s toll.

Caicedo certainly hasn’t been poor by any stretch and continues to be debated, he has just been a little bit inconsistent whilst he finds his feet in London. But recently I think we are seeing more consistency and more impact from the young midfielder who I fully believe will go on to become a very successful Chelsea player.

He’s received some praise from a player who I believe to be one of the best to ever play the game, former Barcelona defender Carles Puyol.

In words cited by Blue Footy, Puyol said this week: “He’s [Moises Caicedo] a great player. I think he has the necessary quality, the necessary talent to be able to do important things. But the most important thing is that he’s in a great team where he can grow a lot.”

For once, it’s refreshing to read level-headed analysis on Caicedo, because Puyol is right, there is a top player there and it’s starting to shine now.
