Ajax new boy Mohammed Kudus blew away the home supporters over the weekend, winning the fans’ Man of the Match vote after the Dutch giants cruised to a 3-0 victory over RKC Waalwijk.

His eye-catching display was highlighted by his involvement in the build-up which lead to Ajax’s first two goals.

The €9m signing certainly looks as if he’s going to be a hit in Holland but the Ghana international emphasised a ‘club-first’ mentality following their emphatic win.

“I am very happy with my performance, but the whole team was strong, so that included me,” Kudus told NOS.

“I want to compliment my colleagues. I heard yesterday that I was going to play, so I had to prepare well. The boys are good to me, it’s like family to me here.

“I can play in different positions, both in attack and in midfield. You never know where you will end on the field. I’m ready for anything. Normally I play more in the front.

“The goal is to win as much as possible with the team. Everything individual will come afterwards.”

Ajax are one of four Eredivisie clubs to win their first two matches of the season, including Vitesse, who they will match up with this coming Saturday.
