Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have put pen to paper on new deals to extend their stay at the Anfield club beyond the end of the season, according to Anfield Edition.

The independent Liverpool platform (with 447,000 followers) and Football Content Awards winners, followed by the likes of David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano, Ben Jacobs and Gregg Evans on X (formerly Twitter), claimed this afternoon that the duo have both signed contract extensions, but the club want to keep the news under wraps.

Liverpool are doing so in order not to put attention on Trent Alexander-Arnold, with their academy graduate yet to agree to a new deal.

Both Salah and Van Dijk were due to be out of contract in the summer, and while the lengths of their new deals have not been revealed, it appears they will not be leaving the Merseyside club anytime soon in a huge boost for Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

Saudi Pro League clubs remain keen on the Egypt international and were linked with interest last month, but they will have to wait for some years before they can land the Reds forward as he has reportedly committed his future to the club.

Salah has featured in 23 Premier League games so far in 2024-25, weighing in with 21 goals and 13 assists, and losing such an influential player is the last thing Liverpool want right now.

Van Dijk has played in every minute of the league campaign this season, and he has not shown signs of slowing down yet despite being 33 years of age.

Getting two of their most important players to remain with them for a few more seasons is great news for Liverpool, and they will hope Alexander-Arnold can follow suit amid numerous reports linking Real Madrid with a summer interest in him.

The Premier League leaders are looking to win the title, Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season, and not many would rule them out despite failing to make any January additions to their team.
