MN: ‘They could think of cash’ – Chukwueze’s time at Milan ‘not working’

Samuel Chukwueze joined AC Milan with a lot of excitement. The former Villarreal winger had been exceptional in La Liga, and when he moved to Serie A, there was confidence in his ability to continue improving. This has not been the case, though.

Under Stefano Pioli, the winger rarely got a look into the team, and when he did, he often under-performed. In Serie A, there were noticeable issues with his game, and whilst he had a few nice moments in the Champions League, he struggled massively with consistency.

When Paulo Fonseca arrived in the summer, things seemed slightly different, with the Portuguese head coach working heavily with the winger. Once again, though, he has not shown anything yet this season.

Perhaps, this could be due to the performances of Christian Pulisic, and whilst the American winger has been superb, it should be a motivator for his competition. Instead, it has led to suggestions that he needs a ‘proper’ deputy, rather than the underperforming Chukwueze.

As Milan News writes, last season, he played 33 times – starting 15 of those games – and only recorded six contributions. This season, a similar story is unfolding – seven games, zero contributions. Leading to suggestions that he is a player ‘transformed’ in all the wrong ways.

Due to his poor form, the report suggests that an exit in January may be possible, and whilst it is early, if there is no improvement, the Diavolo may think about cash.
