Last night’s win over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital provided a reminder of what great European nights feel like for AC Milan.

MilanNews recalls how in the 87th minute Junior Walter Messias met a wonderful cross from the left by Franck Kessie and headed in to score with his first ever shot for Milan. A roar of happiness came from the players, and sent a message: the Rossoneri are back on the big stage and they are capable of beating the best teams.

There was a lot of praise for the team, the coach and the club but the report also praises the thousands of fans that made the trip to the Wanda Metropolitano. The Curva Sud made their presence felt around the city in the 24 hours previously, while the many Milan fans scattered around the home section show that history, passion and glory is not lost.

Modern football cannot forget its roots and yesterday the Diavolo sent a strong message to Europe, as Brahim Diaz even remarked: “Wanda looked like San Siro.” Evenings like that have been a long time coming, and it sets of a mouth-watering do-or-die game against Liverpool next month where San Siro will be like a mad house.
