MN: Milan Futuro sit in perilous position with 5 games to go – the numbers | OneFootball

AC Milan Futuro was intended to be the project of and for the future, however, it looks quite bleak at the moment. There is time to change this though.

It was around this time last year when the plans for the Futuro were accelerated, with a team in Serie C looking like a bigger reality on an increasingly growing basis. So, with the hype building around the project, there was a desire to deliver.

However, this season has not gone that way. Instead, the Futuro has seemed a bit like a purgatory. Francesco Camarda, the star of the project, has rarely been present, instead playing for the seniors. Then for others, it has been a case of being too good for the Primavera, but questionable in Serie C.

Of course, the first season was always going to be questionable as the club worked out how the model would work. But it would be fair to class the project as a failure in its current state.

As Milan News write, the club face a very real risk of relegation, sitting last in the standings of Serie C with only five games to go. Despite being level on points with Legnago (24), the latter have an advantage in their remaining games.

In other words, the Rossoneri desperately need some saving and any new manager bounce has yet to be felt.
