A moment of madness from Luka Jovic in the second half of the defeat to Monza not only put the game at risk but will also likely see him suspended for more than one game.

Things went from bad to worse for the Rossoneri after they went in 2-0 down at the interval against Monza as Jovic was given his marching orders just five minutes into the second half.

After earlier clashing with Izzo, the two came together again off the ball and the Serbian seemed to slap the defender, resulting in a red card after a VAR review.

Milan would somehow end up getting themselves back level thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, but then Bondo and Pulisic struck late to ensure the points stayed in Monza.

As MilanNews reports, Jovic is likely to face more than a one-game ban for his moment of madness too as per Article 38 of the Code of Sports Justice.

“A minimum sanction shall be imposed on footballers responsible for violent conduct towards players or other people present, committed on the occasion of or during the match, without prejudice to the application of mitigating or aggravating circumstances a three-match or fixed-term disqualification. In the event of particular seriousness of the violent conduct, a five-match or fixed-term disqualification is imposed on the player.”

While waiting for the Sporting Judge’s statement at the beginning of the week, the situation already seems well defined: Jovic will most likely receive a three-match ban.
