Sergino Dest continued an encouraging trend whereby he appears to be gaining confidence and match rhythm with each appearance for club and country.

MilanNews recall the game at Stamford Bridge on 5 October 2022 when Milan were outclassed by Chelsea amid a huge batch of unavailable players, something that meant Sergiño Dest got the start that night.

The Rossoneri were comfortably beaten by the attacks from the English club and were unable to offer adequate resistance, but then on Friday night against England it was Dest’s turn to keep Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount quiet.

Dest’s start with Milan wasn’t easy as he arrived in the last hours of the transfer window due to the serious injury suffered by Alessandro Florenzi. He made a bad first impression having struggled against Kvaratskhelia in the loss against Napoli and then in west London, but against Fiorentina in the last match before the break he seemed to show more courage, especially in an attacking sense.

These positive flashes were also confirmed in these first two matches of the World Cup, in which Dest proved to be quite solid in defence and very enterprising in attack. Pioli will certainly like what he sees, and he could be a real resource in the second half of the season.
