Davide Calabria has officially completed his journey from being a Primavera graduate to the full-time club captain, ahead of what is a very important campaign both personally and for the team.

MilanNews recalls how Calabria effectively became Milan’s captain in the second half of last season when Alessio Romagnoli had lost his starting spot, but now he holds the title of being the permanent wearer of the armband things feel much more real.

Against Udinese, Calabria celebrated not only his first official match as Milan’s full-time captain but also reached 150 Serie A appearances with the Rossoneri shirt, which was a very fitting coincidence.

He marked the occasion well too, showing himself to be a threat at the opposite end of the field in Udinese’s final third as he served an assist – his fourteenth – to Ante Rebic to make it 2-1 in the first half. He also did well to deal with Isaac Success, who had no space.

At ‘only’ 25 years old Calabria is still in the early prime of his career but he has eight seasons as a senior player under his belt. The report adds that because of his experience and consistency ‘there is no better captain at the moment for the Rossoneri’, as Calabria embodies the transformation of the club from the dark times to the positive present and future.
