AC Milan have a lot to thank Ignazio Abate for, most notably for launching several of the young stars who are now aiming for a place among the senior ranks.

Milan’s senior team left a lot to be desired last season, and finding any pride in the season was difficult. However, fans could take pride in the young stars emerging in the Primavera. Kevin Zeroli, Francesco Camarda and Jan-Carlo Simic, stars of the future exploding onto the scene, led by a Rossonero.

Abate’s side became the first Italian side to reach the Youth League final, and although they lost, it was a sign of the project’s potential, with some fantastic signs shown along the way.

Now, a handful of the stars of that team find themselves playing in Serie C with the Futuro squad, however, it is not going in the direction that the club likely would have hoped.

Currently, the Futuro sit 18th in Serie C, and with two wins this season things could certainly be better, perhaps they would be under Abate, who has his Ternana side sitting second so far.

There will be a chance to compare this weekend, as Milan News reports, with the Futuro travelling to face Abate’s side at the Stadio Libero Liberati.
