📈 MLS Power Rankings: No movement in the top-three, plenty elsewhere | OneFootball

MLS keeps on rolling and so does our weekly top-10 power rankings. While the top-three teams remained locked in place after Matchday 7's action, there was plenty of movers and shakers elsewhere.

Lock in, folks!

10. Austin FC (👎)

Despite boasting one of the most expensive attacking units in MLS, Austin have made a conservative start to the season under new boss Nico Estévez, but the game-plan has seemingly paid off. After a goalless draw with Portland over the weekend, they have now only conceded three goals in seven games.

At the other end of the pitch however, they have only scored five. If they can produce more goals from their counter-attacks, their defensive acumen is solid enough to make them a true contender.

9. Orlando City (👍)

Unlike Austin, Orlando’s strength this season has been the high-flying form of their attacking stars, though they were blanked by a rock-solid Philadelphia side over the weekend.

Orlando are still trying find a balance between defense and attack, but when they do they will be one of the toughest outs in the east.

8. LAFC (👎)

Steve Cherundolo’s side continue to slip in our top-10. After suffering a surprise defeat in Houston on Saturday, albeit with a weather delay mucking the evening up, LAFC have now lost three of their last four MLS games and find themselves seven points out first place in the Western Conference.

While some of this slump can be attributed to their ongoing Concacaf Champions Cup tie with Inter Miami, you can’t look past this LAFC team continually dropping points against perceived inferior teams.

7. Philadelphia Union (👎)

Philadelphia falling a few places in the rankings may seem harsh, but they are a victim of the teams around them all excelling over the weekend. A relatively drab goalless draw with Orlando on Saturday means they’ve now dropped points in two straight matches after a record-start to the campaign.

However, whether it's seventh or fourth, the Union should be remaining in our top-10 throughout most of this campaign.

6. Charlotte FC (👍)

Charlotte are back to winning ways after coming back to down Nashville early on Saturday. The stars like Pep Biel and Wilfried Zaha are starting to shine once again after a few weeks of anonymity, and with a solid tactical foundation in place at all times, it is that stardust that will elevate Charlotte to the next level.

5. Minnesota United (👍)

Eric Ramsay’s side have become one of the toughest nuts to crack in all of MLS. Since an opening day defeat to LAFC, the Loons have remained unbeaten in the league, and have now won two straight thanks to a solid victory away to NYCFC over the weekend.

Tani Oluwaseyi has been a revelation up front, scoring five goals in six games so far this season. Like Charlotte before them, Minnesota thrive off of being well-coached, and sprinkling in individual brilliance when it matters.

4. Vancouver Whitecaps (👍)

Vancouver should perhaps be higher in this ranking, but after dropping points in two straight matches before dispatching Colorado over the weekend, they slipped just enough to allow this week’s top-three to blow by them.

Whitecaps fans won’t give a damn however, as they remain top of the Supporters Shield race. The shock start is looking far more than a purple patch now.

3. San Diego FC (no movement)

What can you say about San Diego that hasn’t been said yet? The MLS newcomers continue to ride the buzz of their new surroundings, thrashing the Seattle Sounders in SoCal late Saturday evening.

Chucky Lozano marked his return with a hand in all three goals (2G, 1A), and the Mexican looks dead set on being the catalyst for consistent success at SnapDragon.

2. Columbus Crew (no movement)

The Crew just keep doing Crew things. After fending off a late fight-back from Montréal over the weekend, Columbus extended their unbeaten streak to start the season to seven games.

They’ve taken the key departures of star attackers in the winter right on the chin.

1. Inter Miami (no movement)

Surprise surprise, Inter Miami remain top of our rankings, despite a surprise home draw with lowly Toronto on Sunday night.

Like LAFC before them, some grace can be given to the Herons as they have one eye on the second-leg showdown with Steve Cherundolo’s side.
