It was a relatively quiet Major League schedule on Sunday.
Here is what transpiredâŠ
DC United striker Taxiarchis Fountas has been accused of using a racial slur against Inter Miamiâs Damion Lowe.
The alleged incident led to a lengthy delay during Sundayâs game at Audi Field, which Miami won 3-2 thanks to a late Gonzalo HiguaĂn goal.
But the result was completely overshadowed when news broke afterwards that Miami had lodged a complaint.
âMLS has zero tolerance for abusive and offensive language and we take these allegations very seriously,â the league said in a statement.
âAn investigation into this matter will begin promptly.â
They say timing is everything and Santiago Morenoâs was perfect on Sunday as his strike earned what could prove an invaluable point for Portland Timbers.
With the minimum of four additional minutes already played, the Colombian winger took aim from outside the box to earn his side a 1-1 draw at Columbus Crew.
Should Portland sneak into the play-offs, Morenoâs goal will have been a decisive moment.
Absolutely clutch!
Ryan Hollingshead is supposed to be a right-back, but his goalscoring exploits this season suggest LAFC are wasting him in defence.
The 31-year-old blasted home his sideâs third goal against Houston Dynamo on Sunday, showing an attackerâs verve in the process.
It was the sixth time the former Dallas man had netted this season, making him the most prolific defender in the league.
A 3-1 win for the Black and Gold also means they keep control of the battle with Philadelphia Union for the Supportersâ Shield.
