Argyle supporters will be praying that Muslic is still in charge at the start of next season.

Miron Muslic has clarified his pre-Leeds United press conference which seemingly put his Plymouth Argyle future into question.

Despite the near-miraculous efforts of the Austrian and his players, it is almost inevitable that Plymouth will be relegated on the last day of the 202425 Championship season.

Unless they overturn a 14-goal deficit on goal difference to Luton Town, the Pilgrims will be playing their football in League One next season.

Muslic, in spite of the club's position, has been brilliant since arriving in Devon. He has rallied the troops and done incredibly well to even get Plymouth in a position where they have the remotest chances of staying up.

Argyle supporters would love to see him stay on and help them rebuild for a promotion push in the third tier, should their fate be confirmed on Saturday, but his comments ahead of the clash with Leeds - the league-leaders - suggested he might not stick around.

Muslic inferred that the club needed to make major additions over the summer, specifically bringing in a sporting director and adding to the recruiting team, in order to consider staying.

This, understandably, sent Plymouth supporters into a bit of a frenzy. The thought of them going into next season without a manager and the uncertainty that comes with that is bad enough, let alone having the hope of Muslic leading the charge and then, all of a sudden, he's not there.

After the press conference, the 42-year-old took to X to state more clearly his love for the club and that his comments were fueled by frustration over Argyle's impending drop to League One.

However, Muslic did not say that he would definitely be the head coach of the Pilgrims next season - that is still up in the air.

"I have fallen in love with the football club from when I had my first experience of it in London all those months ago," Muslic remarked. "Today in my press conference, I was over passionate with emotions still running high from our imminent relegation to League One and how much I care for Argyle and the Green Army and how committed I am to the club and its future.

"I want the best for Argyle and we are all frustrated with what’s happened but now we need to put it right. We are all in this together and I look forward to seeing you all at Home Park on Saturday."

Plymouth must do everything possible to keep Miron Muslic

The love and adulation that the Plymouth supporters have for this guy is brilliant. It's a relationship that all owners of any sports team would love to have at their club.

It can't be manufactured, it only comes organically, and that's when you know that you have something special on your hands. Yes, his record of 1.32 points per game, in all competitions, isn't the best in the league, but scoring points at that rate would certainly have had Argyle safe by now had he been in charge from the start.
