Fabio Miretti admits that Juventus need ‘calm’ to overcome a difficult moment, which was mirrored by a red card given to Dusan Vlahovic in a 0-0 draw against Genoa.

Juventus were held to a goalless stalemate by newly promoted side Genoa on Sunday and saw their star striker Vlahovic receive a red card for dissent in the stoppages. For this reason, the Serbia international will be fined.

Miretti spoke to Sky Sport Italia after the game, admitting that he didn’t know what his teammate had told the referee.

What Miretti said about Vlahovic red card

“I was far away, and I don’t know what happened exactly,” said the Italian midfielder as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“Clearly, we lack serenity, so we must rediscover calm to overcome this situation. We must all improve, regardless of who goes on the pitch.”

Juventus players slept at Continassa on Friday and Saturday, but the training retreat, which was not punitive, didn’t bring the results players and coach Massimiliano Allegri hoped for.

“We took the responsibility to understand and find solutions,” said Miretti.

“We told each other that we must finish second and win the Coppa Italia. Having objectives motivates us. We’ll do anything to reach them.”

Speaking about what didn’t work for Juve against Genoa, Miretti noted: “When they sat deep, it was difficult to play in the middle. Perhaps, we were a little too blocked.”

What is Juventus’ position in the Serie A table?

Juventus have only won one match in the last eight in Serie A and are three points below second-placed Milan in the table.
