Minnesota United midfielder Jacori Hayes will miss the remainder of the 2022 season after suffering a broken leg during the 4-0 friendly win over Everton in midweek.

The match at Allianz Field was a night of celebration for the Loons, who outclassed their Premier League opponents from start to the finish.

However, MNUFC suffered two injury blows, with star playmaker Emanuel Reynoso limping out in the first half after scoring the opening goal, followed by Hayes.

Reynoso's status remains 'day-to-day' according to head coach Adrian Heath, but Minnesota confirmed on Saturday that Hayes is out until next year after suffering a right lower leg non-displaced tibia-fibula fracture.

Hayes has undergone reparative surgery on the injury.

The 27-year-old has been with MNUFC since 2020 after arriving from FC Dallas. This season, Hayes played 69 minutes across eight MLS appearances, notching one assist.

Hayes is not alone on Minnesota United's season-ending injury list, joining fellow midfielder Hassani Dotson, who tore his ACL in April.

Following their resounding win over the Toffees, Minnesota United return to MLS action against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday looking to maintain their position in fourth on the Western Conference table.
