Liverpool will entertain FC Midtjylland at Anfield on Tuesday night hoping to pick up maximum points at home. The Reds managed to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday which will keep them in high spirits heading into this midweek showdown in Europe.

Jurgen Klopp could stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation for this game and is expected to make a couple of changes to his first-team for this upcoming showdown versus Brian Priske’s men. James Milner and Takumi Minamino might get the nod to start while both Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino earns some well-deserved rest on the bench.

Defence

Alisson Becker will operate in goal for the Reds after returning from his injury in the win over the Blades last Saturday. Joe Gomez will once again partner Fabinho at the heart of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep another clean sheet in the Champions League this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will probably keep his spot at right-back while Andrew Robertson focusses on putting in another industrious performance as the left-back. Klopp will allow both his full-backs to push high up the field so that they can create enough chances for their teammates up top to win this game.

Midfield

Georginio Wijnaldum will anchor the midfield along with James Milner as they look to retain possession well at the centre of the park and engineer some decent openings for the front players. The gifted trio of Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota will play just ahead of them as part of Klopp’s attack.

Mane has played a part in each of his team’s last three goals across all competitions, so he will once again be a potent threat down the left flank. Jota will be full of confidence heading into this midweek clash after netting the winner versus Chris Wilder’s men in his last outing at Anfield.

Both Curtis Jones and Jordan Henderson will be available for selection on the Reds bench but could come on to provide some fresh legs in midfield if required.

Attack

Mohamed Salah will probably get another chance to shine as a centre-forward up top. The Egyptian international will carry most of Liverpool’s goal-scoring burden, so it’s high time that he stepped up and returned to his goal-scoring ways against Midtjylland on Tuesday night.

Both Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino will make up the numbers on the bench as they await their chance to shine as the impact substitutes if Klopp decides to call upon their help.
