Millwall have turned down two offers from Wycombe Wanderers for their young forward, Aidomo Emakhu.

The Chairboys have been after the 21-year-old Irishman, according to Southwark News, but their pair of attempts to sign him were ultimately turned down.

Emakhu was signed by Millwall in January 2023 but hasn't yet laid a strong marker down on the squad. He made 25 appearances last season for the Lions, only six of which he started, and he was, again, used by manager Alex Neil as a sub for the club's opening game of the new Championship campaign against Norwich City.

The striker by trade has generally been used on the left-hand side by Millwall since making his debut against Burnley in February 2023. Neil used the Irishman in this position in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, against Newport County. Emakhu provided an assist for the pivotal goal in his side's 1-0 win over their League Two opponents.

Millwall told to ignore Wycombe Wanderers' offers for Aidomo Emakhu, at least for now

He has plenty of competition for the solo starting striker spot in Neil's side, but, even still, it's by no means a unanimous thought that Millwall should let him join Wycombe.

Lucas Ball, one of Football League World's Lions fan pundits, has said that he would retain Emakhu until the new year, and then allow him time away from The Den if he is struggling to progress.

"Emakhu is a really tough one, to be fair, and he's one that probably, internally, I've had quite a lot of headaches over myself as well, kind of trying to work out what I would do with him if I was in the club's shoes," Ball said, ahead of Millwall's midweek match against Newport.

"He's clearly got something about him. He's shown it more as an impact sub, generally, in his Millwall career than when he started, albeit starting opportunities have been relatively limited. And obviously he's now behind Femi Azeez on the left. Azeez has arguably been one of the best wingers in the Championship in 2025.

"So I think it's a really tough one, because you want him to develop and improve. In Alex Neil we've got a manager who does tend to improve players and has improved a number of [players in] our squad already.

"I think he's very keen on the sports science side as well. So in terms of if he can look to build up Aidomo's minutes in that sense, then it probably looks a little bit better if we look at keeping him.

"I would probably give him till January at least, and then if he's not played regularly, or isn't kind of making things happen from the bench with any kind of regularity, then potentially look at loaning him out for the rest of the year and next summer you re-evaluate.

"I probably wouldn't cash in on him right now, but that's not to say that he doesn't have a price. And I think if you were to get a real good offer of you know, even a total package worth kind of somewhere in the £1.5-2 million pound region, particularly looking at the money that Wycombe are about to pick up from the Kone sale.

"It'll be one that, you know, games like tonight against Newport will be massive for Emakhu. You'd expect him to start tonight and it's then whether can he make that impact now from the start of a game rather than coming on late on against tired legs?

"Also, is left wing definitely his best position? You know, he has to kind of make that adjustment, I suppose, to prove where he is best, and if he wants a run of games up front then he's got to prove his worth up there too.

"[It'll] be an interesting one and one to keep an eye on, but I don't think we'll particularly look to sell right now unless is a very good offer."

Millwall can't go too far wrong with Aidomo Emakhu decision

Millwall are in a little bit of a win-win situation with Emakhu. A few goals in pre-season and his assist on Tuesday could be indications that he is starting to find his feet at The Den. Neil has always been one to give youth a chance, and so there's certainly scope for the attacker to continue to develop in Bermondsey.

If, however, the striker depth chart gets a bit too long, the 21-year-old will have a very strong chance of becoming a first-team regular under Mike Dodds at Adams Park. Either way, this could be a big year for the Irishman.
