Millwall star George Honeyman is due for a medical today with League One side Blackpool, according to journalist Richard Cawley.
The Lions were only two points below the playoff spots in the Championship at the end of the 2024-25 season, as they finished eighth on 66 points.
Alex Neil had a very good run in the second half of the previous season and is expected to go again in the next campaign.
The club hierarchy will look to solidify the team for a successful run-in, but it will also mean some players will end up leaving as well.
Honeyman looks like he will be on his way out of the club and has been looked at by several League One sides.
Millwall did hold talks over a new deal with him, but he is now expected to sign for Steve Bruce’s Blackpool.
It has been suggested that he is expected to go through his medical today, before he signs for the Seasiders.
Honeyman’s contract at the Den is set to expire at the end of this month, and he will be joining Blackpool on a free transfer.
The League One side had a solid last season under Bruce, as they finished ninth in the league table, and Honeyman’s experience playing in the Championship and League One could make him a shrewd signing.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has more than 100 appearances for Millwall and Hull City and 97 appearances for Sunderland, who got promoted to the Premier League.
All eyes will be on Blackpool to see when they announce Honeyman’s capture; he featured in 45 games for Millwall in the previous campaign.
