Millwall are unlikely to make further moves for loan duo Sheyi Ojo or Luke Freeman this summer, Gary Rowett has told News at Den.

Ojo, on loan from Liverpool, ended the campaign with 18 Championship appearances to his name, however, he was confined to just 934 minutes of second-tier action.

Freeman, 29, played just 13 minutes for the Lions before injury struck, joining the Lions on a temporary deal from Sheffield United on Deadline Day in January.

The Blades’ creative midfielder finds himself out of contract at Bramall Lane next month, with his immediate future uncertain.

Speaking to News at Den about whether or not they will target the loan duo this summer, Rowett said: “I wish him (Ojo) all the best, I don’t think it’s something that we’ll be able to pursue.

“Luke had a very frustrating time. He’s a top player but obviously he’s not been able to show that.

“But again, probably unlikely we’re going to be able to pursue that, although Luke could be out of contract this summer.

Who was Millwall's first game of the season against?

QPR Fulham Luton Reading

“At the moment, our focus is on players who played last season and had good, positive seasons.

“That’s where we’re looking at this moment in time.”

The verdict

It is no surprise that Rowett is taking this stance with the aforementioned duo, with Ojo only showing the quality he possesses in glimpses.

Freeman, a player who has lit up the Championship in previous years, was dealt a major injury blow right from the very start and has not been able to feature ever since.

It will be interesting to see what the immediate future holds for the pair, with Freeman likely to depart Bramall Lane as his contract is about to expire.

Both players possess evident quality and could be integral players in the Championship next season but it remains to be seen if it can play out that way.
