Millwall have agreed a deal to re-sign Oliver Burke on loan from Werder Bremen, according to Richard Cawley.
Burke spent the second half of last season on loan from Sheffield United, and the versatile forward is set to return to The Den off the back of 15 Bundesliga appearances this term.
Burke was a valued contributor under Rowett in his first loan spell, showing performance levels higher than what he had produced in his time at Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion.
The Lions look set to take their play-off bid deep into the campaign once again, and bolstering their forward line with a player of Burke’s ability has to be seen as a shrewd move.
Cawley broke the news on Twitter this morning.
“Burke is one of two medicals set to take place today.”
Injuries have stunted Burke’s progression at times in the last few seasons, but if the Lions can keep him fit their attacking options will certainly be enhanced.
The Scotsman can play out wide or centrally, and it would be fascinating to see him operating in tandem with Zian Flemming just behind Tom Bradshaw.

Rowett seemed to get more out of Burke in the second half of last term than other managers have in recent years, and that will encourage Millwall supporters if a deal is completed.
Burke has only made one Bundesliga start for Werder, and has almost exclusively played as a central striker.
With that in mind, there is a good chance that Burke is the Benik Afobe replacement in South Bermondsey, after the Lions came close but ultimately failed to sign Hibernian’s Kevin Nisbet last week.
