Both Millwall and Queens Park Rangers find themselves in a battle to retain their Championship status.

It has been a poor campaign for both sides, as Millwall have gone from competing for a top-six place the last couple of seasons to now slowly drifting into a relegation fight.

While QPR have been in the bottom three for most of the season after a disappointing last 18 months at the club.

Both clubs are on their second managers of the season, so the January transfer window was a chance for the pair to make changes to their squad. They both added a few new players to their squad, but neither were keen to reignite their interest in Mansfield Town attacker Davis Keillor-Dunn.

It was reported in September of last year, that Millwall and QPR were among the teams interested in signing Davis Keillor-Dunn.

As well as these two Championship clubs being interested, TEAMtalk also reported that teams such as Hull City, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United, Blackpool, Barnsley, and Bolton were also keen on the player.

The winger is currently on the books at Mansfield and has been since joining the club in January of last year.

The 26-year-old started his career at Chesterfield but soon made a move to Scotland, joining Ross County. He then returned to English football in 2020, signing for Wrexham, and after joining the Red Dragons, he soon made moves to Oldham Athletic, Burton Albion, and now Mansfield.

Keillor-Dunn’s contract with the Stags runs until the summer of 2025, meaning he will enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer.

It may have surprised a few that no team tried to sign him in January, but given his current form and his contract situation, teams like Millwall and QPR should be keen once again during the summer.

Millwall and QPR should make a fresh approach for Davis Keillor-Dunn in the summer

As mentioned, Davis Keillor-Dunn joined Mansfield during the January transfer window of last year, and while he may have struggled to make an impact at Burton, he didn’t with the Stags.

Straight away, the 26-year-old was performing at a decent level, as he finished that second half of the season with six goals and four assists in 19 league games.

It was a good start to his career at Mansfield, but this season, not many will have expected the player to be producing like he is.

So far, Keillor-Dunn has started 27 of the 29 league games he has been available for, during which time he has scored 15 goals and chipped in with five assists. The winger has been a standout performer in the league, as shown by him being named in team of the week eight times, as per SofaScore.com.

So far, Keillor-Dunn has a scoring frequency of 154 minutes, which is not a bad number, as he averages 0.5 goals per game. Furthermore, he is averaging an impressive 3.7 shots per game, with 1.7 on target, so with a bit better accuracy, Keillor-Dunn could have scored even more goals this season.

The winger’s goal conversion isn’t ideal, as it currently stands at 14%, but as well as scoring, the player is also creating chances for his teammates. Keillor-Dunn has created nine big chances, with him picking up 2.2 key passes during his 78% pass accuracy per game, per SofaScore.com.

The Mansfield attacker is in excellent form for the League Two side this season, and while it is two divisions below the Championship, it shouldn't be dismissed that Millwall and QPR revive their interest.

Keillor-Dunn has shown how capable he is going forward, and in fact, both the Lions and the Rs could do with a player like that now.

So, no matter what division they are in next season, both teams should be keeping an eye on the Mansfield attacker and looking to reignite that interest once again in the summer, especially as he could be in the final 12 months of his contract.
