Sky Sports report Howe will wait until the summer to take his next step in manager despite being presented with a “wonderful” offer to become the next Celtic manager.

Turkish outlet Milliyet report Fenerabche were keen on Favre but U-turned when it became apparent he was demanding a salary of £4million-a-year.

“[David] Wagner has been mentioned before and there’s always a risk with a foreign manager that doesn’t know the league and hasn’t been involved in it before,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But I guess coaches are fairly transient in this day and age and coaching is coaching. But you still have to understand the culture, and of Celtic especially.

“Any appointment is a gamble unless you’ve got a manager with an unbelievable track record there is always some sort of gamble.

“On the flip side of that, you might be able to get a manager like that coming from a German team that doesn’t demand and doesn’t want as big a transfer budget or as big a wages.

“The club are then thinking ‘Hang on a minute, that works for us.’

“Everything is a balancing act of what you get for the money and what you’re guaranteed and what you might get.”
