Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar continues to climb Serie A’s rankings despite effectively becoming the Giallorossi’s first choice in goal on the 25th matchday of the season.
Since Daniele De Rossi’s appointment, Svilar has been consistently given a chance to start ahead of veteran goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
The Portuguese veteran was promptly given the role of second-choice goalkeeper after a series of underwhelming performances.
On the other hand, Svilar has done nothing but impress both in Italy and in the Europa League campaign that is still underway.
As reported by Lega Serie A, Svilar has collected the most saves since January among all goalkeepers in Italy’s top flight.
Since the 25th matchday of the season, Svilar has collected a total of 22 saves.
Furthermore, in the same period of time, he is second only behind Inter Milan’s Sommer for completed passes: the Swiss veteran is at 184, while Mile is currently at 168.
It is no coincidence that Roma are thinking about securing the 24-year-old goalkeeper with the renewal of his contract as more European clubs are starting to show interest in him.
