Milan’s record with Maignan between the sticks this season – only ten conceded
Mike Maignan has recovered remarkably quickly from his wrist surgery and will be available from the first minute tomorrow. It’s a big boost for AC Milan, who rely on the Frenchman in many aspects.
In addition to being a better goalkeeper than Ciprian Tatarusanu, Maignan’s passing adds a whole new dimension to the play of Milan. This was greatly missed during his absence but, of course, the Rossoneri found a way around it.
Prior to the injury, Maignan had started 9 games for the club and in those games, they had only conceded 10 times. Tatarusanu, as it happens, also played 9 games after the injury but instead, Milan conceded 12 goals.
Furthermore, Milan registered six wins, one draw and two losses with Maignan in all competitions. With Tatarusanu, the Rossoneri registered five wins, two draws and two losses. A narrow advantage for Maignan, but it means so much more than just the result.
