Title-chasing Milan face an Atalanta side still very much in the hunt for European qualification in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

The Rossoneri need just four points from their final two matches to be crowned champions for the first time since 2011. Atalanta, however, are one of three teams between sixth and eighth that go into the weekend on 59 points.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side lag at the bottom of that pack, narrowly outside the qualification spots for Europa football (be that League or Conference League).

As Milan edge towards that long-awaited Scudetto, Stefano Pioli has a largely unblemished squad to select from, although centre-back Simon Kjaer remains sidelined by a knee injury that has kept him in the treatment room since December.

Atalanta team news

Atalanta haven't had quite the same luck with injuries this season and are expected to be without the club captain Rafael Toloi this weekend.

Stand-in wing-back Giuseppe Pezzella is also out with a tear in his abductor muscle but Joakim Maehle is available again after recovering from an appendectomy.

This matchup can be crudely boiled down to a clash between defensive resolve and attacking flair.

Since the turn of the year, Milan have conceded just nine Serie A goals - a strikingly miserly tally that only Champions League finalists Liverpool (eight) can better across Europe's top five leagues. Conversely, 20 different players have found the net for Atalanta this term, the second-highest figure in Serie A history.

However, Le Dea have been a shadow of their prolific selves in years gone by, with injuries to key personnel - upfront but also at wingback - catching up with Gasperini's side.
