The AC Milan players and staff will wear black armbands during today’s game against Sassuolo to commemorate Tino Borneo, who passed away recently.

As MilanNews write, Borneo – who was the coach of the U12s team – died last Friday at the age of 52 and Milan bid farewell to him with a post on their official website.

“One is never prepared to say goodbye to someone who has been part of our lives, even if only by touching them with the tips of our fingers or like a breath of wind. Costantino, known to all as Tino , Borneo left us this morning, quietly yet leaving a resonating echo in the minds of many Rossoneri.

“The Rossoneri was a second skin for him, first as a youth team player, then with his first-team debut in the Coppa Italia match against Lecce where, in his only official appearance, he also scored.

“He played for many teams and met the gaze of countless people before returning to his home to dedicate himself to the footballers of the future.

“With his technical expertise, his experience, and his humour, he was able to create a special bond among his staff colleagues and especially with the young champions, those who, from today, will carry on his sporting and human legacy he.

“This season, Tino was in charge of AC Milan’s Under 12 team, but many other boys have been under his tutelage and will have the task of passing on his legacy.

“Today is a day of tears and pain. Tears and pain that we must transform into the emotions and passion of being together on the football pitch, the emotions that characterised Tino.”

To keep his memory alive and honour him, this weekend all the men’s and women’s teams – from the youngest age groups up to the first teams – have worn and will wear a black band on their arms to symbolise mourning.

Today the Rossoneri will wear the armband in memory of Borneo in the match against Sassuolo, a fitting tribute to a person that was highly esteemed and appreciated throughout the club.
